Mother Lover, We ILL!

I believe that knowledge is power. Music is a way of sharing information, also known as data, which is knowledge. Music gives us power. The homies iLL-Literacy have just released a FREE-EP called "iB4the1.1" as a part of their Open-Source music program. CLICK THIS LINK to download it and enjoy some power.

Chen Lo gives it all up!

Music moves me. When fresh music is combined with an excellent visual element in motion, I'm doubly moved. This is a great music video called "Give It All Up" by one of the best emcees out of Brooklyn (by way of PA), Chen Lo. I've had the honor & pleasure of not only sharing stages with this brother, but also teaching spaces & students as well.

After you watch the vid and dig through Chen Lo's catalogue, heck out Liberation Family, the collective of artists and educators that he moves with.

Hip Hop diss-Honored

The latest installment of VH1's Hip Hop Honors was a tribute to the legacy of Def Jam Recordings. Def Jam is arguably the most important label in Hip Hop culture, and is certainly unrivaled on the business end of things. However, their very first rap artist was not invited to the event. The one and only T La Rock speaks about this in the video below. I've also posted the AMAZING song that got Def Jam started, "It's Yours" by DJ Jazzy Jay & T La Rock.

Shout out to GrandGood, where I first picked up the story.

This is HIP HOP in the rawest form. Party rocking poetry, hard hitting electronic drum beats, cuttin' & scratchin'!!!
